August 26th is National Dog Day!

Sunday, August 26th is National Dog Day! It's a day to celebrate our canine friends and family - perhaps a little more than we celebrate them every day.The official purpose of the holiday is twofold. One, it aims to raise awareness about the many, many dogs who are in shelters awaiting adoption or rescue. Two, it looks to acknowledge the contributions and hard work of dogs and the amazing human/dog bond that has thrived throughout history.So whether you celebrate National Dog Day by giving your beloved family dog a special treat to say 'thanks', or donate to a working or service dog charity for the incredible work those animals do, or plan to adopt a shelter dog for your next canine family member, August 26th is the annual day to do something to honor a dog.How do you plan to celebrate the holiday this year?
